Boot problems upgrading to Snow Leopard
After I've upgraded my Mac OS to Snow Leopard, I've experienced the boot manager is not showing up when the computers boots. Somehow it only recognizes the OSX partition. Here is a solution to the problem.
I tried to get Apples boot manager to work installing Windows 7 on a second partition. The partition had previously worked nicely with Vista Business installed, and installing a new OS should be nothing more than a walk in the park - or so I thought. But after a few troublesome nights, I finally gave up and started looking for an alternative to Apples boot manager.
The most promising solution was rEFIt - a third party Open Source piece of software, that does nothing more than booting your computer from any number of secondary partitions. No surprice - you'll be able to install Linux, Solaris or any OS you might think of, also you'll be able to boot from an USB memory stick or external harddrive.

So far I've been running rEFIt for almost 8 months, with no problems what so ever. I admit it's a shame Apples own boot manager doesn't cut it in this particular case. A boot manager is NOT rocket science and should just work out of the box. On the other hand I really like peeking into the code of rEFIt to see how it works.
