VMware loses my network adaptor
Life inside a VM can be anything but rosy. I sill need that network adaptor.
For a number of months I've been using VMware as my main development platform. Enabling me to save state and shorten the time to "configure" my development-enviromment by just clicking on resume, really saves a lot of time. Also the benefit of backing up the entire VM is a major benefit in my opinion.
So I've been happy for some time now, and destiny needed to show me another side of life inside a VM; suddenly my network adaptor in the Windows XP SP3 VM was lost. "Surely there must be a remedy for this" I thought and searched intensively my all-time alley Google, and came up with "How to restart some services" and that should get it all back on track. I tried it out - nothing, zip, dip-squat, 0, null, nil, srewed ... no-can-do. The nwtwork adaptor refused to come back to life.
In my desperation I tried to revert to a previously saved state, and suddenly the network adaptor came back to life. Baffled and amazed I lived on for a few months, and bamm the same thing happend again :(
Now I'm all out of good ideas, except this of source reminds me of taking a valid backup once in a while. However I still NEED that network adaptor.
